Snow and Ice: High Capacity Snow Removal

This purpose-built snow removal truck is used to quickly and efficiently remove large amounts of snow on airport runways and mountain passes. This new machine design controls two engines and carries three different attachments.

GS Hydraulics created electro-hydraulic and electronic control systems that integrate all hydraulic and non-hydraulic functions along with the multiple attachments. The control system automatically detects the attachment and adjusts its performance parameters to allow for quick interchange of the plow, broom, and snow blower. Proportional control of attachment movements reduces mechanical stress resulting in increased attachment life. The truck also has four selectable wheel steering modes for better maneuverability in a multitude of operating conditions and locations. Traction control and the differential lock engage and disengage on demand to improve fuel economy and drive performance. The integrated controls provide monitoring and diagnostic information for both engines, transmission, anti-lock brakes and attachment control system.
