Forestry: Forwarder and Loader
The forwarder loads and transports the timber across rough forest terrain to the landing. Efficient hauling of the timber results in greater productivity. Speed and efficiency must be maximized without sacrificing the longevity of the components, operator safety, and maintaining engine horsepower efficiency. The initial machine design used all hydraulic controls adding significant complexity to the machine because hydraulic lines had to be routed into the cab while the operator chair needs to rotate 180 degrees.
GS Hydraulics greatly improved performance by implementing an electro-hydraulic control solution with the most advanced electronic and hydraulic systems available. The hydrostatic transmission is the heart of the propel function, which is seamlessly shifted using a well tuned master controller. Engine horsepower is now monitored and controlled via a J1939 CAN master controller resulting in improved fuel efficiency, increased machine acceleration and efficient loader operation. Engine horsepower output is electronically matched with hydraulic horsepower demands to optimize machine controllability and efficiency. Costly and cumbersome hydraulic hoses and rotational devices have been eliminated from the cab. A programmable cab provides the machine manufacturer with assembly line flexibility to build many machine configurations with ease. GS state of the art technology provides increased machine productivity, safety and ease of operation, while improving efficiency.
