Construction: Crane

When operating a construction crane, safety and precise control are top priorities. The operator is often lifting and moving large loads with obstructed views of the worksite, especially where the load is to be placed. Due to close proximity to the moving load, the safety of on-site workers is a critical concern.

GS Hydraulics greatly improved the performance and safety of these construction cranes using closed-loop electro-hydraulic controls. GS implemented sensors onto the winch drum which provides a signal to a custom joystick. This “thumper” joystick gives the operator tactile and audible feedback as to how fast the load is being lifted or lowered. The result is very accurate and safe control of the load.
