Specialty Lift Equipment: Boat Handling Hoist

This mobile straddle crane handles multi-million dollar yachts, barges, and large ocean going vessels requiring precise and carefully coordinated movements. These boat hoists range from 15 ton to 1,000 ton capacity. In its initial configuration this machine utilized open center, basic hydraulic controls which required a spotter on every corner in addition to the operator to manually measure and control the lifting operation. Manual, conventional steering created wide turning angles and the potential for machine and lifted load damage.

GS Hydraulics greatly improved the performance, productivity and safety of this straddle crane by implementing a state of the art electro-hydraulic control system. GS developed coordinated four-wheel steering controls that are revolutionary in the industry. Integration of radio remote control technology into the master controller allows the operator to walk freely around the entire machine eliminating the need for spotters. Coordinated winch lift operations are now accomplished using pilot-operated electro-hydraulic proportional control valves. Using J1939 CAN communication, engine performance is monitored and maximum efficiency is achieved.
